In Croatia, the Roman Catholic feast day of Corpus Christi is a national public holiday. It is a day dedicated to celebrating the bodily presence of Jesus in the bread of holy communion, in accordance with Catholic dogma.

The first tradition on Corpus Christi is to attend mass. This only makes sense since the whole basis of the holiday is to commemorate the institution of the Eucharist, which is the centrepiece of every mass.
Immediately after mass, a street procession will commence in many cities and towns of Croatia. There may also be street bands performing in public squares, colourful rugs or other decorations placed on the path the parade will travel, and various entertainment focused and cultural events taking place.
